Directions to the Dock

The Mystic Whaler sails from and returns to New London, Connecticut in the summertime.  In the fall, she sails from various ports on the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland.

Getting to New London, CT

By Car

From the East – Rhode Island

I 95 South exit 84s (Downtown New London) follow expressway as it turns into Eugene O'Neill Blvd at the New London Police station (second traffic light). Turn right at Police station for Gov. Winthrop Parking Garage OR Continue straight on Eugene O'Neill, to next traffic light. Turn left onto State Street; follow to the left (turns into one-way street) Water Street Garage is on your left.

From the West – New Haven

I 95 North, exit 83 (Downtown New London) straight through light @ end of the ramp on to Huntington St. Second light turn left on to Governor Winthrop Blvd parking garage on right or continue to 2nd light turn right on to Eugene O'Neill Blvd. Turn left onto State Street, follow to the left (turns into one-way street) Water Street Garage is on your left.

From the North

Route 395 south to Exit 78 Rt. 32 south continue on Rt. 32 as expressway ends in downtown and turns in to Eugene O'Neill Blvd. Turn right at Police station for Gov. Winthrop Parking Garage OR Continue straight on Eugene O'Neill, to next traffic light. Turn left onto State Street; follow to the left (turns into one-way street) Water Street Garage is on your left.

Parking

Parking in the Water Street Garage is $6 per day Monday – Thursday, $8 on Friday, and $15 per day Saturday & Sunday and Holidays. Parking in the Gov. Winthrop Parking Garage is $5 per day Monday- Friday and $15 per day Saturday & Sunday but you must arrive before 12pm to use the Gov. Winthrop garage. We would suggest using the Ferry, Train or Bus service as they are a short walk to our dock and during festival times parking can be difficult.

By Train

Amtrak stops in New London several times daily. Once you arrive in New London, the Mystic Whaler is docked a short walk from the train station at the Custom House Pier at the Waterfront Park. Check www.amtrak.com for schedule and rates.

By Bus

Greyhound stops in New London several times daily. Once you arrive in New London, the Mystic Whaler is docked  a short walk from the train station at the Custom House Pier at the Waterfront Park; you will need to cross the train track to reach the pier. Check www.greyhound.com for schedule and rates.

By Ferry

The Cross Sound Ferry arrives from Orient Point, NY several times daily. We would recommend arriving without a car as parking is charged daily and the Mystic Whaler is only a short walk once you arrive in New London.

By Plane

Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT and TF Green Airport in Providence, RI are equal distance from New London. Both airports are approximately 1 hour from New London by car. You can either hire a livery service, taxi service or rental car at either airport (see by car directions). From the Providence Airport you can take a short taxi ride to the Amtrak station and come to New London by train (see by train directions).

Getting to Beacon, NY

By train: Take Metro North’s Hudson River Line (either north or south) to Beacon.

By car: Rt. 84 (either east or west) to Exit 11, “Rt. 9D South”.  This is the first exit east of the Newburgh/Beacon Bridge.  Travel south on 9D approximately 1 mile.  Look for signs for the train station, and turn right at the police station.  There are two entrances to the station.  The second entrance (crossing over the tracks) will get you closer to the Mystic Whaler.  There is free parking at the station on weekends.
