Directions to the Dock

The Mystic Whaler sails from and returns to New London, Connecticut in the summertime. Our street address (for GPS and online mapping) is 35 Water Street, and our zip is 06320.  In the fall, she sails from various ports on the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland.

Getting to New London, CT

By Car

From the East – Rhode Island

From I-95 South take exit 84s (Downtown New London) and follow the expressway as it turns into Eugene O'Neill Blvd at the New London Police station (second traffic light). Continue straight on Eugene O'Neill to the next traffic light. Turn left onto State Street, through the next light, and follow down the hill to the left (turns into one-way street). The Water Street Garage is on your left just past the Amtrak station.   The entrance is immediately after the second Speed Bump. The Mystic Whaler is docked right behind the train station.  The pedestrian crossing over the tracks is at the far right end of the station.

From the West – New Haven/New York

From I-95 North, take exit 83 (Downtown New London) and go straight through light at the end of the ramp on to Huntington St. Continue through two more lights, and at the third light turn left onto State Street.  As you make the turn, you'll see the Garde Theater on your left.  Continue on State through three lights, follow down the hill to the left (turns into one-way street). The Water Street Garage is on your left just past the Amtrak station.  The entrance is immediately after the second Speed Bump. The Mystic Whaler is docked right behind the train station.  The pedestrian crossing over the tracks is at the far right end of the station.

From the North - Hartford/Springfield

From Route 2 South, take Exit 28S for I-395 South.  Follow directions below from Worcester/Norwich.

From the North - Norwich/Worcester

From Route 395 South, take Exit 78 (left-hand exit to Rt. 32 south) and continue on Rt. 32 to Downtown New London.  After passing Connecticut College (on your right) and the Coast Guard Academy (on your left), the expressway continues to downtown and turns into Eugene O'Neill Drive, with the New London Police Station at the second light.  Continue straight on Eugene O'Neill, to the next traffic light.  Turn left onto State Street (Caruso Music across the street). Continue through the next light, and follow down the hill to the left (turns into one-way street).  The Water Street Garage is on your left just past the Amtrak station.   The entrance is immediately after the second Speed Bump. The Mystic Whaler is docked right behind the train station.  The pedestrian crossing over the tracks is at the far right end of the station.

Parking

Parking in the Water Street Garage (160 Water Street) is $1/hr ($6 max) per day Monday – Thursday, $2/hr ($8 max) on Friday, and $15 per day Saturday & Sunday and Holidays. We would suggest using the Ferry, Train or Bus service as they are a short walk to our dock and during festival times parking can be difficult.

By Train

Amtrak stops in New London several times daily. Once you arrive in New London, the Mystic Whaler is docked right behind the train station at the City Pier. Check www.amtrak.com for schedule and rates.

Shore Line East now serves the New London CT Amtrak station seven days a week.  Check http://www.shorelineeast.com/index.php for schedule and rates.

By Bus

Greyhound stops in New London several times daily. Once you arrive in New London, the Mystic Whaler is docked right behind the train station at the City Pier.  Check www.greyhound.com for schedule and rates.

By Ferry

The Cross Sound Ferry arrives from Orient Point, NY several times daily. We would recommend arriving without a car as parking is charged daily and the Mystic Whaler is only a short walk once you arrive in New London.

By Plane

Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT and TF Green Airport in Providence, RI are equal distance from New London. Both airports are approximately 1 hour from New London by car. You can either hire a livery service, taxi service or rental car at either airport (see by car directions). From the Providence Airport you can take a short taxi ride to the Amtrak station and come to New London by train (see by train directions).

Getting to Beacon, NY

By train: Take Metro North’s Hudson River Line (either north or south) to Beacon.

By car: Rt. 84 (either east or west) to Exit 11, “Rt. 9D South”.  This is the first exit east of the Newburgh/Beacon Bridge.  Travel south on 9D approximately 1 mile.  Look for signs for the train station, and turn right at the police station.  There are two entrances to the station.  The second entrance (crossing over the tracks) will get you closer to the Mystic Whaler.  There is free parking at the station on weekends.
