Summer Sailing Getaway from New York City

Mystic Whaler UnderwayWelcome to the ultimate summer weekend getaway from New York City.  Imagine boarding an Amtrak train in New York City and in 2 1/2 hours escaping to an all-inclusive, weekend sailing adventure in New London, CT.  Your cares and worries slip away as the train transports you to the deck of a 110', 19th century inspired sailing ship ... with the benefit of hot showers. You disembark steps from the schooner's summertime berth, her 90' masts visible from your coach window.

You're welcome to board the Mystic Whaler after 8:30 p.m. the evening before your cruise.  That night you sleep aboard in your own cabin, lulled to sleep by the waves lapping against the hull.  The next morning you wake to the smells of coffee and breakfast wafting out of the galley.  That morning, guided by the wind and tides, the Coast Guard licensed captain decides that day's sailing destination.  After a generous breakfast the schooner casts off her dock lines and your sailing adventure begins.

"I would definitely recommend this ship to anyone who wants the "tall ship" experience with an expert captain, crew, cook, and entertainment."

You are invited to help raise sail, steer the ship, climb aloft in the rigging, make new friends or lounge in the sun, soaking in your surroundings.  The helpful, friendly crew loves to teach you about their craft.  You don't need any experience.  The ship sails through the day, serving lunch underway and docks that afternoon in a seaside port.  As the crew tidies the ship you  are invited to go ashore and explore with your shipmates before dinner is served.  As the sun sets on another glorious day you can stay on board the schooner or go ashore and explore the night life.  Returning to the ship you see the moon rise as stars blanket the night sky.

Sunset Aboard the Mystic WhalerThe next morning breakfast is served and the schooner departs for another port of call (3 Day Cruise) or turns for home (2 Day Weekend Cruise). The ship ties up again in New London around 3:30 in the afternoon.  Refreshed and reinvigorated you say goodbye to the crew and the friends you've made and catch the next train back to the city.  As the train pulls away from the platform you're already planning your next escape.
